Timber Pest Management

Termites, borers and wood decay fungi — for licensed pest management technicians looking to expand their skill set to incorporate the inspection and management of timber pests.

CPPUPM3008 · 3010 Statement of Attainment 5-day workshop + assessment F2F, online & RPL

Face-to-face workshop

These programs are designed and targeted towards pest management technicians looking to expand their skill set to incorporate the inspection and management of timber pests. ProTrain expects that persons wishing to complete this program would already hold a pest management licence for general pests and be currently employed in the pest management industry, working under the supervision of a licenced timber pest management technician.

How the program works

  1. Pre-course remote assessment. Selected research and study modules completed prior to the workshop, issued on enrolment confirmation.
  2. Supervised workplace training. Provide evidence of completing at least 10 timber pest inspection and management programs (across subterranean termites, borers, fungal decay, dampwood termites and drywood termites) under the direct supervision of a qualified timber pest management technician.
  3. Five-day face-to-face workshop. Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (8:30 am start in Maroochydore). Includes classroom and field activities, a field trip into the timber pest environment, species sample collection and IDs, and inspections of buildings at varying stages of construction.
  4. Final workplace assessment. Conducted after components A–C using audio and video media to demonstrate performance requirements in a workplace situation.

What to bring

  • A copy of Urban Pest Management in Australia 5th edition
  • Biro, pencil and a calculator to use during assessment
  • Suitable clothing and footwear on practical days (typically days 4 & 5) including shirt, long trousers, enclosed shoes, hat & sunscreen
