Complex & Sensitive Sites Pest Management
Assess and advise on Integrated Pest Management options to prevent and manage cockroaches, rodents and other common pests in sensitive operations and audited complex operations.
Face-to-face workshop
This unit cluster covers sensitive operations — where people may be more sensitive to pesticides than the general population, for example schools, kindergartens, childcare centres, hospitals, community health centres and aged care facilities — and complex operations — sites where food, beverages or pharmaceuticals are handled, manufactured, produced or packaged under an external food safety and audit regime. It includes client consultation, site inspection to gather evidence and identify the nature and extent of pest activity, and developing a comprehensive pest management plan and cost proposal.
Completion of these units provides credit towards CPP30119 Cert III and CPP41619 Cert IV in Urban Pest Management. Some states and territories require completion of some or all of these units as part of their licensing requirements.
How the program works
- Pre-course component. Before the workshop, complete and document (templates provided): an inspection/assessment of the pest management status at a sensitive or complex facility; a proposal for a pest management program based on that site; an Activity Risk Management Plan for the facility; and a service report for a pest management program carried out at the facility.
- One-day face-to-face workshop. 8:00 am – 4:30 pm (8:30 am start in Maroochydore). A mix of theory and practical exercises.
- Post-workshop submissions. Students may be required to complete additional submissions for different facilities based on the workshop content. Your ProTrain assessor carries out a final review once all documents have been submitted.
What to bring
- Biro, pencil and a calculator to use during assessment
- Clothing to be workplace appropriate
Eligibility: Students should be licenced pest managers, or administration / sales persons with some exposure to carrying out pest management in a sensitive or complex facility. This unit requires the candidate to be a licensed pest management technician in order to undertake pest management work at sensitive or complex sites. A valid USI is also required.
